BFU-USA Financial Statement, Convention Media and Transition Complete
Olathe, KS: We are off to a really great start. As promised by the National President in his inaugural address of August 4, 2009, I am pleased to report that we have successfully completed the transition from the old executive to the new. As part of the transition process, we held a total of 4 conference calls with the old executive during which all portfolios of the various offices were transferred over, status of all projects validated and documented. We also had the opportunity to review with them the work of the different committees during their tenure and documents of necessary contacts back home were transferred over as well. We want to sincerely thank the outgoing executive for the hard work and diligence in making this transition a seamless one. We thank them for the great records keeping with the well documented processes and templates that they had in place to help make this transition smooth for all of us involved.
As promised during our campaign we are keeping our lines of communication open. We would like to provide you with some updates to some action items that the President had in his inaugural address. Attached to this communiqué is a year-to-date financial statement of the union as well as a cover letter that will assist you in assessing the report better. For those of you who could not make it to the convention and did not get the opportunity to hear the great things that our chapters have been doing as well as projects that were completed by BFU-USA, and also for those of you who would just like to reminisce in the spirit of the convention, we have uploaded all convention media on the website. Pictures of the convention can be found here. We also have uploaded the president’s state of the union address, the keynote address, the health workshop presentation handouts, convention poem, BFU-Youth speech and the convention booklet that has all the chapter reports here. Please take the time and look through these and you will truly be proud to be a member of this great union. The master copy of the Chicago Convention DVD is ready, however the National executive is working at finding the most cost effective ways of duplicating this and making it available for purchase from the BFU website as well as through other channels of distribution. Stay tuned and as soon as they become available, we will send out an announcement to let you know.
A lot of good work was done by the constitution committee, the outcome of which is the attached ratified bylaws of the organization. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the content of our bylaws as they form the heart of our union. In addition to this online version, we are going to be sending hard bound copies of the bylaws to each chapter president so they can always have them handy for their chapters to assist in the proper conduct of BFU-USA business. We will like to encourage all chapter presidents to forward this document on to their respective chapter listservs.
Preparations are underway for the National Executive Strategic Planning Meeting in DC-Metro (Fall 2009). We will keep you all informed once we have a date confirmed. Please look forward to our first in a series of Presidential Town Hall Teleconference meetings beginning September 2009. As we get closer and we have specific dates for these town hall meetings, we will be sure to communicate that to everyone. We are also planning to have the first Chapter Presidents meeting in the next 2-3 weeks. We will also let you know once we have a date and time nailed down.
