BFU-USA Health Outreach Missions
BFU-USA Health Outreach Missions (BHOMs), is the central piece of the BFU-USA Health Policy code named, ACCESS which aims to improve Access to Healthcare Services in marginalized communities, long deprived of essential services.
The Health Outreach Missions program was launched in Cameroon in 2025. So far, we have served over 1,200 patients in five communities (Wasi, Ber, Kwanso, Wainamah and Mbokam) in Bui Division, Cameroon.
Working with a group of medical doctors and health practitioners, the program carries out free consultations, treatments and referrals, breast and prostrate cancers screening, diabetes screening, cholesterol testing, hypertension, treatments for common illnesses (malaria, wounds etc), prenatal care, and mental health education (trauma care). The medical teams have also undertaken emergency field surgeries. As part of the sustainability plan, BFU-USA is also adopting Resident Nurses to service these communities.
