Background of BFU-USA Healthcare Policy

BFU-USA is proud to announce the launch of its new healthcare outreach policy, ACCESS, focused on improving access to healthcare services in marginalized communities, particularly in Cameroon. The most significant healthcare challenge in these communities is access, often attributed to poverty, poor knowledge, and socio-cultural factors compounded by the civil war. Our policy will be centered on the 5-As: Availability, Affordability, Acceptability, Accommodation, and Accessibility of healthcare services. Through this bold initiative, BFU-USA aims to create a sustainable impact by providing essential health services where they are most needed.

We are dedicated to executing this vision through four key strategies:
  • BFU-USA Health Outreach Missions (BHOMs): We are launching BHOMs in Cameroon to deliver direct health services and save lives. These missions will also collect crucial health data, which is essential for designing data-driven, sustainable health solutions. To maximize our impact, we are partnering with local medical doctors and health practitioners in Cameroon.
  • Establishment of BFU-USA Cameroon: We are working to become fully legalized in Cameroon to ensure full compliance and responsibility for our mission. This will enable us to enforce contracts, leverage local authorities, and work directly with international agencies, NGOs, and government institutions.
  • BFU-USA Mobile Health Clinics (BMHCs): Our long-term goal is to establish BMHCs to bring healthcare directly to every corner of marginalized communities. These mobile clinics will utilize medical vans, bikes, and other applicable forms of transport to reach those most in need.
  • Construction and Equipment of Health Centers: In addition to our mobile efforts, we plan to build health centers in specific communities. These centers may be built and then turned over to the community, or operated in partnership with them, ensuring a lasting local impact.
Our commitment extends beyond these strategies. We also intervene in humanitarian health emergencies in Cameroon and beyond. In the U.S., we organize health walks, community services, food donations, and health awareness talks to support local communities.
