BFU-USA Sponsors Back-to-School For Orphans
Saturday, 09 October 2010 17:51

Bui Family Union (BFU) – USA recently spent $2,000.- to sponsor the tuition and school supplies of 130 orphans in Bui Division for the academic year 2010-2011 in collaboration with KUDOC (Kumbo Development and Orientation Center). KUDOC is one of our local partners in Bui Division and has successfully implemented numerous projects for BFU-USA over the past years.

This initiative was largely funded by our chapters working collaboratively with the National Education Committee at our request for their support. We sincerely thank these chapters for their prompt response and willingness to support a worthy cause. Thanks to their generous donations, we realized this project in time for the kick-off of the 2010-2011 school this September! The following chapters donated towards this initiative:

  • BFU-USA Georgia Chapter: $500
  • BFU-USA Houston Chapter: $250
  • BFU-USA Minnesota Chapter: $300
  • BFU-USA Northern California Chapter: $400

The National Education Committee funded the balance of the initiative from its budget.

As the report details, you made a difference in the lives of these children and gave them hope for tomorrow. Thank you!! As you read this report, please know that we are evaluating the feasibility of making this Orphan’s Project an annual commitment for BFU-USA. In essence, these are the same kids we have been sponsoring for a few years now through the primary education system in partnership with KUDOC. We welcome your input, ideas and continued support to make this happen. You can reach us by filling out our online contact form. Remember, it takes 6,750 frs CFA (about $15 at exchange rate 475frs per $1) to sponsor an orphan in primary school!

We also thank our partners, KUDOC, for the prompt turnaround and detailed reporting. You can find more information about KUDOC at www.kudoc.org. KUDOC’s mission statement is: “Empowerment of underprivileged people through potentials awareness and the provision of basic capacity building facilities for sustainable development”. The additional pictures will be made available on Facebook and on our website with the report.
